ITSNJ Public Agency Official AwardIn the category of Public Agency Official a person, who works for a public entity, who has contributed significantly to advancing ITS in New Jersey is honored.
Ted Bobowsky has been with PANYNJ since 2008 and currently leads the Traffic Operations group within the Traffic Engineering Department. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Rutgers School of Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration, also from Rutgers Business School. While he has worked in all areas of traffic engineering, conducting crash analysis, reviewing traffic management plans, managing engineering design projects, reviewing construction staging plans, conducting traffic impact studies, and optimizing operations at all Port Authority facilities; one of his biggest contributions has been the creation of the Port Authority Agency Operations Center also known as the PA-AOC. The agency had a fragmented approach for communicating with regional transportation agencies. To create a single point of contact was not easy because of old school thinking and resentment to new ideas, yet with help of the Chief Traffic Engineer and the Assistant Chief Traffic Engineer, he was able to get the buy-in from all internal and external stakeholders and was able to stand up the unified operations center. Ted currently is in-charge of the Operations group, which is responsible for efficient and safe movement of goods and people. In this role he constantly seeks use of technology to improve both the safety and mobility/operations at each facility. The attached provides some examples of Ted's leadership in various projects and includes various awards. |
